Mid-October and are due by the end of the calendar year.
A reduction in dues is offered to dental students, and those
who have reached the AAPD milestone of being a life or retired
member.
A Brief History
A small group of Missouri
pediatric dentists met during the Missouri Dental Association
meeting in January 2001 to discuss how to create a statewide
organization which would accomplish the
American
Academy of Pediatric
Dentistry (AAPD) requirement that all districts have state
coalitions. Bylaws and a Constitution were created, and the group
met at the AAPD meeting later that year in Atlanta to vote on its approval. The members
met again the following year during the AAPD meeting in
New York
in order to choose officers. The officers were chosen from among
those initial members. Dr. Craig Hollander (St.
Louis) was the first President, Dr. Lori Henderson(Columbia)
was the first Vice President, and the regional officers were Dr. Rob
Coyle (Columbia), Mark Fernandez (St. Louis),
and Mike Berry (Kansas City).
The Secretary Treasurer position does not change each year, and has
been held by Dr. Hollander from its inception.
Invitations to join the newly named Missouri
Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (MoAPD) went out after the New York meeting in 2002, and by the
following year, dues were collected from 27 members.
The first annual assembly meeting of the MoAPD
was held on January 17, 2004 in conjunction with the Missouri Dental
Association Mid-Winter meeting in
Columbia, Missouri, and we have met in January every
year since. Our annual meeting is comprised of a 2 hour continuing
education lecture (free to MoAPD
members) followed by a luncheon business meeting . It is held
every year in Columbia, Missouri,
usually the third Saturday of January. Individuals wishing to join
the MoAPD can find an application by clicking on the button below.
